If your computer is used by more than one person, even if you both use the same windows account (on a PC), you may not like to have Firefox set up the same. For example, I use the NoScript extension which disables a lot of functionality on sites until I allowed it... this drives my wife nuts.

Many people don't realize that Firefox comes with a Profile Manager for just such an emergency, which allows you to keep profiles separate from each other.... bookmarks, paswords, settings and even extensions are kept separate to each profile.

I could go into detail on how to access the profile manager but not only is it different from one operating system to the next (Windows, MacOS, Linux) but even from different brands...  XP has a Run box, Vista doesn't.

Instead, visit this page: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

If you use Windows (most of the visitors to this site do), you can go straight here for more details: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows

Once you read up and get some profiles set up, you can set up your copy of Firefox any way you like it, even with a theme that looks great to you, but maybe not to someone else.

If you're a developer, this is a great way to work on something new while not jeopardizing important information in your main profile.

This is pretty standard information for many Firefox users, but for some who are just trying it for the first time, hopefully this will help if there's more than one of you trying it!
