Whether you do programming, extension development or just make sites.... these tools will help you out by giving you information faster, more efficiently. You'll still have to do the writing, but at least you won't have to spend months searching online to find the pesky ID or class name to something that should be rather simple.... these extensions will help!

1. Web Developer

It sounds pretty self explanatory but in reality, I couldn't even begin to give you all of the details of this amazing extension in one short article. You can enable or disable individual elements of each page, such as scripts, styles, images, forms and more...  you can modify the styles and HTML on the fly, without reloading... you can analyze the DOM and scripting on the fly, you can validate all your code with a click, auto resize documents to any size to see how they scale and this is just to start...

You can add outlines to elements for easier visibility, display widths/heights, anchor info and so much more on the fly.. just trust me, this is the ultimate tool for a website maker. There is nothing missing!

2. FireBug

Just like Web Developer, this extension lets you not only see, but manipulate just about everything on the page in real time! It has some minor differences from Web Developer but you can use either one, depending on your preferences.

3. Dom Inspector

You're saying to yourself: 'If the last extension isn't missing anything, why would I need a DOM inspector?' and you're mostly right, but this extension goes a level beyond in another way....  with this extension, you can dig into the core of Firefox itself, to view ID's, classes, other attributes... even events attached to elements.

For example, imagine a button that is just a button, and has a javascript click event attached to it that affects another node... the web developer will allow you to view it and modify it, but not do anything with it's event. With DOM Inspector, you can take greater control over each individual node of the page, the document and even the browser itself in how it interacts with it!

4. ColorZilla

With ColorZilla, you can eyedropper just about anything and get it's color... and then use that color elsewhere. Let's just put it this way, all of your color picking problems will forever be behind you!

5. User Agent Switcher

Ever wish you could pretend that you were using every browser all at once? Well, with the user agent, you can... pretend that is.  It doesn't render based on those browsers, but it does set your user agent... which if you are a developer, can be rather handy.

There's more, I strongly suggest you visit the web development section of the Firefox AddOns site.
