FfvB has reached the end of it’s life

ffvbv2

I regret to announce that the Firefox Extension FfvB has reached it’s end of life and will no longer be supported.

With the release of Firefox 4 as well as the upgrade of vBulletin to version 4, FfvB would require a complete rewrite and as it stands right now, it already takes too much time to support, especially considering it makes virtually no money.

Our apologies but as it stands right now, FfvB no longer exists.

Would you consider making the code open if someone else wanted to take on the FFVB project? I am very sad as FFVB keeps me sane on certain forums.

How about if someone took it on and kept some money flowing to you from donations?

(note: I am not a programmer, so I wouldn’t be doing the work but I would work to find someone who could do it)

I have the same problem. Fortunately, I post on more than one computer. All my Macs still have the Ffvb, but I can’t go back with my Windows systems.

I hope someone who knows programming takes up the challenge. Between tedious threads and tedious posters, there’s a whole lot of use for this addon.

If a fund was raised to help you keep developing FFVb would you do it?

I do hope someone takes over this project. It’s saved my sanity and many breakable things on certain forums.

Just did a new install of Windows 7 today. Installed the latest Firefox and came looking for this plugin.

    Now I’m gonna cry. :(

Darn, I decided to check and see if there was an update for the new Firefox yet but alas, I see there isn’t and there will not be one in the future. I really hope someone figures something out.

Apparently, there is still the ‘Total Ignore’ Greasemonkey script for firefox (although, I haven’t tried it yet).

Unfortunately, it requires the Greasemonkey plugin already installed to work, and it doesn’t seem to be as good as this ffvb plugin used to be, but it’s probably worth looking into for the rest of you.

Also here are some other vBulletin board greasemonkey scripts in addition to that one: http://userscripts.org/tags/vbulletin?page=1

Really bad news that this addon is gone, was my favorite one.
